Seeking Volunteers for Community Cafe Day

The Forestry Commission are holding a Community Café event at Birchden Woods on the following date:

  • Saturday 24 June 2017  – Birchden Woods – 10am until 2pm

This is a local initiative usually held in Groombridge Village Hall once a month and designed to engage the community with local clubs and groups. This is the first time that one is being held outside and the Forestry Commission have offered to host it at Birchden Woods/Harrison Rocks car park with the aim to raise money for the Julie Tullis Memorial Fund and/or The Steve Durkin Sandstone Trust.

But we need your help! We will be serving tea, coffee and cakes on the day, offering guided walks, a few nature activities for kids, and Nuts4Climbing will be offering short free introduction to climbing sessions. Groombridge Cubs are also supporting with the day. Car parking will be free and a local Weald bus will also be dropping off and collecting from Groombridge to help those without transport come to the event.

We would love to ask you for your help on the day, whether it be setting up or setting down, serving tea and coffee, baking cakes prior or generally just a helpful hand. There will be tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits for all involved in helping in whatever capacity!

If you think you can get involved please let me know as soon as possible (sarah@nuts4climbing.com) and feel free to share this with anyone you think might be interested.
