Payment for courses can be made by bank transfer, PayPal, credit card or ApplePay (online). A deposit of 50% of the course fee will secure your place on the course. Full payment is due latest two weeks prior to the course date.
Although our courses are rarely cancelled, the weather plays an important factor in outdoor activities and sometimes it may be necessary to change to the course programme that is prompted by the prevailing weather conditions.
Vouchers for climbing courses are valid for one year after purchase and can be redeemed against any of our courses or equipment. Out of date vouchers cannot be extended.
A minimum of a basic level of fitness is assumed.
Decisions made by the course instructor as regards to the safety of course participants must be respected and instructions followed by attendees.
We often take photographs of you whilst attending our courses, primarily these are taken for you to keep as a memento of your day and sometimes may be used on our website or for promotional purposes. If you would prefer not to have your photograph taken for any reason please let us know.
Nuts4Climbing have an exemplary safety record, however it must be understood that our activities contain an element of risk that is beyond our control. We hold an Adventurous Activities Licence (AALA) and are fully insured with public liability insurance, however if you require personal accident and/or cancellation insurance you will need to arrange this as necessary.
Cancellation by us: Whilst every attempt is made to ensure that courses actually run, we will notify you of any cancellation as soon as possible where we believe there are reasonable grounds that cancellation is necessary due to dangerous and / or unsuitable conditions for the course or if the minimum course ratio is not met. In the unlikely event that we have to cancel your course, you will be offered either a full refund or another date. We will not be liable for any travel or accommodation related expenses.
Cancellation by you: Once notified of the cancellation, we will try to re-sell the course place. In the event that we are able to re-sell the course place you will receive a full refund. In the event that we are unable to re-sell the course place you will be charged the following cancellation fees: Within 14 days of the start of the course, 100% will be charged. Where notice is between 28 days and 14 days prior to the course, we will refund 50% of your course payment. If notice is 29 days or more, we will refund your payment in full. Refunds will be made on or before the date the course commences.
Insurance and loss: We have full Public Liability Insurance, but we would advise you to take out your own Personal Accident / Cancellation Insurance. If you already have insurance, check that it covers you for the activity that you are undertaking. We do not include any personal accident, cancellation, third party liability or personal insurance. We will accept no responsibility whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to personal property.
Meeting place is at Birchden Wood (Harrison’s Rocks) Car park promptly at your course start time. Your instructor will meet you at the toilet block in the middle of the car park. Click for map here
All necessary equipment for your course will be supplied but if you have your own kit that you would like to use please bring it along. You are welcome to use your own kit as long as it meets our safety standards.
WHAT TO WEAR
Please wear loose clothing which you don’t mind getting dirty or putting holes in. Rock climbing is adventurous and you might get muddy or covered in slime. You will be outside in the elements throughout the course so please be prepared for adverse weather conditions. Pop some waterproofs in your bag if it looks wet and don’t forget your sunscreen if it looks like it’s going to be hot.
FOR YOUR FEET
Please bring SOFT SOLED shoes for the climbing. You may prefer to wear more robust boots for the walk in (about 10 minutes, can be muddy) and bring soft soled shoes to change into when you get there. Hard walking boots or steel toe caps are not permitted at Harrison’s Rocks, due to the soft, fragile nature of the rock. Trainers are ideal. If you have your own climbing shoes already, please do bring them along. If you’d like to purchase climbing shoes for your course please let us know your size and we can bring a selection for you to try on. Or you can have a look at online shop here.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR
Jewellery, particularly rings, can cause considerable damage to a person if it gets caught on a rock or in a crack when taking part in rock climbing. If you normally wear jewellery, particularly rings, we advise you to leave it at home on your course day.
If it’s hot, you may want to avoid wearing shorts as you may lose skin from your knees!
If your course is all day, please remember to bring a packed lunch. You might also like to bring a drink or flask.
If it is raining on the day of your course, it is more than likely that we will still go ahead although the format of the course may be varied. Please bring warm as well as waterproof outer clothing.
In exceptional circumstances it may be that the course will be postponed or cancelled as a result of very poor weather, in which case we will contact you at our earliest opportunity by email and you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
