About Nuts 4 Climbing
The South East’s Leading Provider of Outdoor Climbing Experiences
Established in 2006 as a way to introduce adults to the exhilarating world of climbing, our success has seen us grow into the South East’s leading outdoor climbing provider running courses for all ages and abilities.
As the nearest outdoor climbing centre to London we pride ourselves offering a high quality experience that offers climbers with indoor experience the chance to test their skills in the great outdoors. There’s nothing quite like climbing with the sun on your back and a breeze in your hair.
We welcome novice climbers and run numerous introductory courses throughout spring, summer and autumn. Paired with one of our highly experienced and qualified instructors you will learn the ropes and very likely pick up the climbing bug!
In addition to our climbing courses at Harrison’s Rocks in Groombridge, Tunbridge Wells, we conduct climbing trips to Devon & Dartmoor, the Peak District, North Wales, Portland and Fontainebleau, France.
For us climbing is more than a sport, it’s a way of life. We live and work on the other side of the hill from Harrison’s Rocks and actively help on the Harrison’s Rocks Management Group, The Steve Durkin Sandstone Trust and the Sandstone Volunteers Group. We also look after Harrison’s Rocks Car Park, Campsite, and facilities on behalf of the Forestry Commission. We want to share our passion for climbing with you and hope to see you soon.
If you are looking to purchase some top quality climbing equipment, we have hand picked gear from some of climbing’s top brands which is available in our on-site store and to order online. Online orders over £100 are free of post and packaging charges, and we only stock high quality equipment and promise fast delivery.
Rock climbing truly is Sarah’s passion. First stepping foot on Harrison’s Rocks in 1988, she founded Nuts 4 Climbing in 2006. One of the team’s senior instructors she is also responsible for the day to day running of the company. As if that didn’t keep her busy enough she is the Chair of the Harrison’s Rocks Management Group who look after the rocks on behalf of the British Mountaineering Council. She is also a trustee of the Steve Durkin Sandstone Trust, as well as an active member of the Sandstone Volunteers Group.
Mick brings a wealth of experience, professionalism and patience to the Nuts 4 Climbing team. Excellent at instructing everyone from children to adults, and especially those with special needs, his composed and relaxed ‘dude’ approach is much appreciated by all climbers. Mick also carries out repair work on the rocks and in his spare time travels worldwide logging his experiences and his artwork on his personal website.
Chris Gibson, or the ‘technique man’ as he’s fondly known, started his climbing career in the South West in 1970’s. Chris has conquered some hard grades, established numerous new routes on both Southern Sandstone as well as in Devon, and is an accomplished mountaineer. If you’d like to be trained by someone that’s climbed difficult faces of the Matterhorn, the Eiger and other hard Alp routes, Chris is your guy.
Since the age of 15 Ed has been teaching climbing and caving and has participated in both all over the country. Part of the South East Cave Rescue team Ed already climbs to an exceptionally high level and is passionate about sharing his experience and knowledge with others.
Bob is your typical Irish Man, quirky, full of great craic and easy going all of which are essential in a great climbing instructor!
Bob brings a mountain of enthusiasm and passion for his lifestyle to all climbing sessions, whether it be actively encouraging young people to get the most from their adventure, or when sharing his knowledge, technique, ascents and epics with more practised climbers!
Whatever it is you are wanting to gain from your climbing session Bob is sure to give you a personal experience you will never forget!
